This is not a joke and they do sell for $600.00 they won't be able to make them fast enough--be good just to run around town. Volkswagen's $600 car gets 258 mpg -- It looks like Ford, Chrysler and GM missed the boat again! China launches $600 car that will get 258mpg This $600 car is no toy and is ready to be released in China next year. The single seater aero car totes VW (Volkswagen) branding. Volkswagen did a lot of very highly protected testing of this car in Germany, but it was not announced until now where the car would make it's first appearance. The car was introduced at the VW stockholders meeting as the most economical car in the world is presented. The initial objective of the prototype was to prove that 1 liter of fuel could deliver 100 kilos of travel. Spartan interior doesn't sacrifice safety The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result. The body is 3.47 meters long and just 1.25 meters wide, and a little over a meter high. The prototype was made completely of carbon fiber and is not painted to save weight. The power plant is a one cylinder diesel positioned ahead of the rear axle and combined with an automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior. Safety was not compromised as the impact and roll-over protection is comparable to the GT racing cars. Chicago Shedd Aquarium with the kids

I took the day to go downtown with all three kids. My wife ditched me to do a marathon charity scrapbooking thing which she'd supposedly been telling me about for weeks... Well anyway, we went and did a daddy day with the kids. All three of them! It was a fun day followed by a visit to my sisters boyfriends house and the playground behind their house which was really cool! I had a great time doing underdogs with the girls and with my son on the kiddie swing. Just an overall great day. The only exception was that my younger daughter sprayed fruit juice all over the top of my camera. Not it's all sticky and the dials won't turn!

Spring Break 2009 Trip Pictures

Here is our trip to Ft. Myers for spring break in 2009. We left on Friday afternoon, drove straight through with only a couple short stops. There was a truck roll over somewhere in Kentucky which caused a detour. The trip overall took us 23 hours to get here in our rented 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. I'll be adding more pictures as we go this week.

2002 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T

I just love this car! I used to drive a 1995 GMC Yukon which actually considering it's size got pretty good gas mileage. I could for the most part get between 14 and 17 mpg in it. Anyway, when gas prices rose to 4.49 per gallon in the Chicago Suburbs, I just couldn't take it anymore. Having my refills cost as much as $120 per fillup and only being able to go a few hundred miles, it was costing me more than a newer fuel efficient car would have cost me to both operate and pay for. So In comes the Jetta. Check out the pics if you like. Also this thing costs me only $50 to fuel up and I'm getting about 350 miles to the tank.
